Schwinn Active 10 Series Upright Exercise Bike
The Schwinn Active 10 Series exercise bicycle is basic and perfect for undemanding use. If you need an easy-to-use simple device to build up your legs - this is it. I broke my leg skiing and needed an economical answer for my rehabilitation needs. You don't need anything more than this beauty. The Active 10 is well built, durable and perfectly suited for home exercise. The price point is attractive and the quality does not disappoint.
Other reviewers mentioned the one fatal flaw of the Active 10 as it arrives out of the box: A very uncomfortable seat. They were correct. There is a twenty dollar solution for this problem. Instead of using the stock seat, resembling what you would find on a racing bike, order and install a Schwinn No Pressure Bicycle Seat instead (available through Amazon.) Use this nicely padded rectangular oval design and you can pedal for hours in comfort. Assembly of the Active 10 could not be easier. In only a few minutes you will be ready to ride. All tools and parts are included.
Schwinn is not descript about the functions of the electronic bike controller. Here's what the manual does not tell you: To start, press Start/Stop, then Reset. Four choices will flash at the top of the display. Press Plus or Minus to select either Manual, Program, User or Target Heart Rate. Go to Program, then press Mode and quickly choose P1 through P6 using the Plus or Minus keys. If you wait a moment, you'll see a graph of what the program looks like. Press Start/Stop to begin. Press Start/Stop again to set the timer as a countdown clock. Press Plus or Minus to change the goal time, and then press Start/Stop to begin your run. If you don't select a specific time, the controller will show elapsed time. You can press Plus or Minus at any time to increase or decrease the strength of your program. Press Start/Stop to end your session. The controller automatically goes to sleep after a few minutes of no use.
I would highly recommend this bike. It met every need for my rehabilitation. It's compact and has a small footprint if you are tight for space. The structure is robust and strong and the electronic control panel becomes easy with a little practice. The unbelievable price makes it a superior buy. Why buy or rent a used bike when the Active 10 is so cost-effective and of such high quality? Bravo Schwinn!
